Always the First -
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
It started with Nursery Retailer, garden retail's most-read,
most-trusted information source.
From humble beginnings, with roots back to the early 1950s,
Nursery Retailer has accomplished an impressive string of
firsts. In 1969, Publisher Dick Morey took its predecessor,
Nursery Business, from a regional publication to one with
national distribution. Not only was this the first nursery
publication to be read coast to coast, but it was the first to
present both editorial and advertising in full color!
But the innovations didn't stop there. More recently, in 1986, Dick
and Jeff Morey saw the signs of the emerging sophistication of the
nursery retail marketplace and launched the first publication to
this target retail sector. Nursery Business Retailer, its
name later shortened to Nursery Retailer, was an instant
success!
And the innovation continues ... when Water Gardening appeared on
the scene in 1994, it was Nursery Retailer that helped make
the trend a winning category for garden centers and retail nurseries
across the country with its every-issue coverage. Nursery
Retailer first defined the hot Gifts for Gardeners trend back in
1995, and is still the only publication dedicated to providing
valuable every-issue coverage of this booming selling category.
Now, as second generation innovators, Publishers Jeff and Cheryl
Morey are taking the industry to new heights with Garden Chic,
the garden lifestyle selling resource for independents, launched in
February 2006. And it doesn't stop there. As producers of The Independent Garden Center Show (www.igcshow.com), the first and only trade show and conference dedicated exclusively to the independent channel, Jeff and Cheryl have created an unparalleled opportunity for IGCs to connect with their key suppliers and learn from the most respected industry experts. This year's event returns to Chicago's Navy Pier, August 19-21.
It's a history firmly rooted in realizing the opportunities tomorrow
holds.
